Selebre Haiti! This past weekend, Rebekah stepped into the shoes of the many Haitian immigrants of New York City, co-starring in Rebel Theatre Company's new work, When You Come For One Of Us, You Come for All Of Us AKA This Is America.

As part of a special collaboration with interfaith activist organization The New Sanctuary Coalition of NYC, this work incorporated the true stories of Haitian refugees and immigrants living in New York City. This story, written by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj and directed by Adam Mace, particularly focuses on women who have been separated from their husbands and children, due to threats and actions of the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, more commonly known as ICE. Featuring the language of Haitian Creole and the hymns of old religions' past, This Is America incorporates verbatim testimonies of the women of Haiti as they travelled, fought, prayed, and shared with the volunteers at New Sanctuary.

Alongside this particular work were short works about the perils and struggles of immigrants from Latin American countries, such as Argentina, Guatemala, and Mexico. Featured works included Snow and Ice, a recount of the journey of Latin American immigrants from their homelands to New York City during the coldest winter of the year; Fernando Meets the Resistance, a satirical look at the complicated relationship between immigrants and white liberals; and Mission to Mars, a mirror-like dualogue with a mother facing deportation and her bright, quirky 10-year-old son.
